A Growing Community

FYE 2017 is destined to be a big year in the City of Norman. In addition to over $350 million dollars of development in both the public and private sector, our community is investing in infrastructure in a big way.

To help track the record number of projects underway in Norman, the GIS Department has created a map of the current projects and those anticipated for 2017. The map includes disaster relief projects, street projects, CIP projects, and projects from the 2010, 2012, and 2015 Bond elections. This map is a visual representation of millions of dollars approved by Norman voters for improvements throughout the community. It shows the tremendous level of commitment to, and investment in, the community's streets, parks, and utilities by the citizens of this City.

Moving Norman Forward

In October 2015, the citizens of Norman approved (72% in favor) a temporary 1/2% sales tax to fund quality of life improvements in the City. Known as Norman Forward, this citizen-led initiative will renovate, expand, construct and fund multiple recreational facilities, libraries, parks, athletic venues, public art, trails, and more. This support for this initiative demonstrates Norman and it's citizens are committed to the bright future of our great City!

Planning of several projects has already began including the planning for the new Central and East Branch Library, the new Senior Center and the renovation of the Westwood Family Aquatic Center. To keep up with Norman Forward projects, check out the City's website
